48 employees of pvt firm fall ill after vaccination

Ahmedabad, Sept 3 (PTI) As many as 48 employees of aprivate food processing company today became ill, with thecondition of four being serious, after they were administeredanti-cholera vaccine at a health camp organised by the firm,officials of a hospital said. The food processing company is located at Varsola villagein Kheda district on Ahmedabad-Nadiad Highway. "Four persons with serious condition were referred toAhmedabad civil hospital, while the remaining 44 areundergoing treatment at Nadiad civil hospital," an officialsaid. Patients told the doctors that they had been givenanti-cholera vaccines at the health camp. Like every year, the company had organised the healthcamp where its employees are administered vaccines andprovided other health check-ups, said Manish Jadawala, a civilsurgeon at Nadiad civil hospital. "Immediately after the vaccination, 48 persons complainedof nausea and started vomiting, and were taken to the civilhospital," he said. "They were provided initial treatment at the hospital.However, condition of four of them worsened and we referredthem to Ahmedabad civil hospital," Jadawala said.
