Anganwadi worker killed in road mishap

Kendrapara (Odisha), Aug 26 (PTI) A 42-year-oldAnganwadi worker was killed and her husband sustained injurieswhen a van collided against their motorcycle at TinimuhaniChhack within the limits of Kendrapara Sadar Police Stationtoday, the police said. The deceased Anganwadi worker has has been identifiedas Gitanjali Jena (42), wife of Ranjit Kumar Jena, of villageDanpur. She was crushed under the rear wheel of the van anddied on the spot, the police said. Her husband Ranjit was rushed to SCB medical collegeand hospital in Cuttack for treatment. The couple was on their way to Kendrapara on themotorbike to attend a rally of Anganwadi workers. The Policehave sent the body to the government hospital at Kendrapadafor autopsy. The Police have also seized the van, but the driverfled the spot, said Padarabind Tripathy, IIC of KendraparaSadar Police Station. PTI COR AAMDKB
