New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday reiterated his willingness to hold an open debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at “any platform, any time, any place”. He urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to convince the Prime Minister to accept the challenge instead of confusing him.
In a post on X, Gandhi directly addressed Shah, a day after the Home Minister accepted his challenge but asked him to raise the issue on the proper forum, inside Parliament. Shah had also said that the Centre was ready to convene a special session if the Congress formally requested it.
However, Gandhi urged Shah not to “confuse” Modi and instead convince him to participate in an open debate, adding that there was no need to be afraid.
अमित शाह जी, मोदी जी को कन्फ़्यूज़ मत कीजिए।
बस उन्हें मेरे साथ खुली बहस के लिए मना लीजिए। कोई भी मंच, कोई भी समय।
डरो मत। https://t.co/TciYEtNBIt

“Amit Shah ji, don’t confuse Modi ji. Just convince him to have an open debate with me. Any platform, any time. Don’t be afraid,” Gandhi said on X.
Gandhi had earlier challenged Modi to an open debate and expressed his willingness to participate at any platform and time. The latest exchange comes amid an escalating political confrontation between the BJP and Opposition parties over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
On Thursday, addressing a rally in Karnal, Haryana, as part of the BJP’s ‘Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy’ campaign, Shah challenged Gandhi to discuss the issue in Parliament. He said the government was ready to convene a special session if the Congress formally requested a debate.
The exchange followed Gandhi’s social media poll on Tuesday, asking young Indians whether they wanted an open debate between him and Modi. He also tagged senior BJP leaders, including Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, asking them to convince the Prime Minister.
Meanwhile, protests against SIR continued. Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and INDIA bloc leaders protested at Bengaluru’s Freedom Park, demanding its withdrawal and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The CJP also announced a November 7 protest in Kochi.
