Beef fest in Mizoram to protest ban

Date:

People’s Right to Information and Development Society of Mizoram (PRISM), the Aizawl-based anti corruption watchdog, organised a community feast with beef here to protest against beef ban in several states and “growing intolerance” in the country.

A press statement issued by the PRISM said a youth rally was organised after which the feast was held.

Ban of beef in several states of the country and the intention of various quarters to legislate the ban in other states was against the spirit of freedom and liberty, the statement said.

The feast was also in protest against the growing intolerance in the country, especially against the minority communities, it said.
