Vijay Mallya granted bail till December 4

Date:

London: Fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya who owns India’s Rs 9000 crore was granted bail till December 4 as he appeared in London court on Tuesday over his extradition.

Meanwhile, India will finalise evidence in next hearing on July 6.

Earlier Mallya denied all the allegations against him and challenged Indian authorities while talking to media outside the London court.

“I have enough evidence,” Mallya said.

Mallya, a liquor tycoon, owes as much as Rs 9,000 crore to Indian banks. He was arrested on April 18 after India made a formal extradition request for him on February 8. The 61-year-old chief of the now-defunct Kingfisher Airlines fled India in March 2016 and has been living in Britain, mostly, since then.

A four-member joint CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) team went to London last month with relevant documents to persuade CPS lawyers of the “dual criminality” – of cheating and money laundering – committed by Mallya.
