Delhi Airport: Two Passengers Arrested For ‘Nuclear Bomb’ Threat

Date:

New Delhi: Two individuals were apprehended by Delhi police following an incident at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport on Monday. Allegedly, during a routine frisking, the suspects purportedly claimed that they were in possession of a ‘nuclear bomb’, as confirmed by the officials.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Jignesh Malani and Kashyap Kumar Lalani, hailing from Rajkot in Gujarat. Authorities revealed that during the security screening process, the suspects questioned its necessity, asserting that they had already been checked before boarding the Akasa Air flight.

According to the FIR filed by Akasa Air staff, the incident unfolded during the Secondary Ladder Point Security (SLPC) procedure for the Akasa Air flight from Delhi to Ahmedabad. While being frisked, one of the individuals questioned the need for the check, remarking, “What are you checking when it is already done?”

In response, the staff reiterated the importance of the procedure for the security of the aircraft and its passengers. To which one of the passengers allegedly responded saying, “What would you do if I’m carrying a nuclear bomb?”

Following the alarming statements made by the passengers, they were denied boarding to ensure the safety of all passengers and the aircraft and a case was registered under Section 182 and 505(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further details are awaited.
