Five, including NRI, booked on rape charges

Phagwara (Pb), Sep 11 (PTI) A 26-year-old NRI man, alongwith four others, has been booked in connection with allegedrape of a Dalit woman here, police said today. The woman (22), belonging to Sangatpur village, hasalleged that Dubai-based NRI Hardev Singh had raped her bythreatening her, Phagwara Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP) Manpreet Singh Dhillon said. Besides Singh, his father Mohinder Singh and motherSukhwinder Kaur, residents of village Lakhpur, and AnjuKhurana and Meena Saini, both of Phagwara, have been bookedon complaint by the woman. She has alleged that the other four accused had hatcheda conspiracy for the crime committed by Hardev, who hasmanaged to go back to Dubai after the incident, he said. The five were booked last night under IPC Sections 376(punishment for rape), 506 (punishment for criminalintimidation), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 323 (punishmentfor causing hurt), he said.
