The castes which would benefit from the decision include Brahmins, Thakurs and Kayasthas.

The government will have to amend Articles 15 and 16 of the Constitution to implement the decision.

If the decision is implemented, the economically backward sections of the ‘General’ category will get the benefits of this reservation.

The reservation benefit is likely to be availed by those who earn less than Rs 8 lakh per annum and own less than five acres of land, according to reports.
