HC asks AAP govt to decide PIL accusing school of corruption

New Delhi, Aug 25 (PTI) Delhi High Court has asked theAAP government to look into allegations of corrupt practices,including collection of donations from parents, against agovernment-aided school here, its Principal and other staffmembers. A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice SangitaDhingra Sehgal asked the Directorate of Education (DoE) of theDelhi government to "take a decision within three months" on aPIL which has made the allegations against the school. "The petition is disposed of with a direction to therespondent (DoE) to look into the matter and consider it. Theorder be communicated to the petitioner in three months," thecourt said. The petition, by Arun Kashyap and M R Mahapatra, hasalleged that the Principal of PGDAV Senior Secondary Schoolhere connived with other staff to collect money from parentsof students during examination time. The petitioners, who claim to be social workers, havecontended that the grants and aid given to the school by thegovernment was being "misappropriated and misused" by theinstitution which was also collecting donations from parentsduring examination and admission time. In their plea, filed through advocate Anup Kumar Das,they have claimed that they had sent two complaints to thegovernment which had forwarded it to DoE, but no action hasbeen taken till date.
