Malappuram: The Kerala government on Monday ordered a judicial probe into the incident where a houseboat with tourists capsized in the Malappuram district killing 22 people.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) stated that an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh will be given to the kin of victims and the state government will bear the expenses for the treatment of the injured, reported ANI citing Kerala CMO. The statement added that a police team will also investigate the matter.
The incident took place near Tanur in Malappuram, Kerala. Minister V Abdurahiman confirmed the increased death toll figure.

The government will bear the treatment expenses of the injured people. A special team of police will also investigate the incident.”
- Congress leader and former Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi expressed grief and wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.

- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will visit the site on Monday and directed the Malappuram district collector to immediately carry out an emergency rescue operation.
- Police, fire and health officials along with locals from Tanur were engaged in the rescue work. The Chief Minister also announced that Monday has been declared a day of mourning with all government events postponed as a mark of respect to the victims.
