Man held with foreign currency worth Rs 29 lakh

New Delhi, Sep 2 (PTI) A man has been arrested forallegedly carrying foreign currency worth Rs 29 lakh at IndiraGandhi International Airport (IGIA) here. The accused was yesterday intercepted by the customsofficials when he was trying to board a flight to Kabul. Onpersonal and baggage search, currencies i.e. USD 39,900 (aboutRs 26.15 lakh) and Rs 2.79 lakh were recovered, a press releaseissued by the customs said today. The currencies were seized and the accused has beenarrested, it said. As per rules, there is no cap on carrying foreign currencyby an Indian national provided he gives a valid proof of itslegal source. PTI AKV DIP RGDIP
