Mock Assembly session for separate ‘Vidarbha state’ in Oct

Nagpur, Sep 7 (PTI) The Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti(VRAS) will hold a two-day mock Assembly session of "Vidarbhastate" here next month as part of their demand for formationof a separate state and mobilising support for it. According to VRAS officials the symbolic two-daysession will be held on October 3 and 4 ahead of the wintersession of the state Legislature scheduled on December 5. The mock session is expected to bring a resolution tooppose the Maharashtra Legislature, they said. The samiti plans to take out a big morcha to VidhanBhavan and hold a massive sit-in agitation during the wintersession of Maharashtra Legislature held every year in Nagpur. The VRAS working committee has chalked out details ofthe two-day symbolic Assembly session, to be held at DeshpandeHall in Civil Lines area of the city. VRAS convener Ram Neole yesterday said a developmentmodel of the region will be presented during the proposed mocksession. Besides, the financial viability of the new statewould also be discussed during the event. The VRAS members will discuss strategy to promoteindustrialisation and generate employment opportunities inVidarbha, tackle farmers’ suicide and malnourishment and tocurb the Maoist menace in the region. Besides, they would also discuss how load-shedding andpower tariff can be minimised. The VRAS will also decide on steps needed to be takento make Vidarbha ‘numero uno’ in the country, Neole said.
