MP: BJP Files Complaint Against Priyanka Gandhi, Other Cong Leaders Over Corruption Accusations

Date:

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in Madhya Pradesh lodged an FIR against Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, former CM Kamal Nath, and former Union Minister Arun Yadav’s X (formerly known as Twitter) accounts over a post accusing the state government of “Corruption.”

Reacting to the lodged FIR, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said in a statement, “It is the BJP government’s job to scare people. We have to tell people to not be scared”

The Indore Commissioner of Police (CP) Makrand Deouskar released a statement saying that the BJP’s local legal cell convenor, Nimesh Pathak, lodged a complaint stating that a fake letter was being circulated on social media. The letter alleged that the contractors in the state were being demanded to pay a 50% commission.

“A complaint against a person, namely Gyanendra Awasthi, was filed stating that a fake letter has been made viral, mentioning the 50% commission. Some social media handles have made this letter viral. Gyanendra Awasthi, along with Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi, Kamal Nath, and Arun Yadav, have been lodged in this,” said Deouskar.

The complaint was lodged under sections 420 and 469 of the IPC at Indore’s Sanyogitaganj police station.

Priyanka Gandhi had earlier alleged that a union contractor from Madhya Pradesh had written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court raising concerns about their payment being withheld until a 50% commission is paid.

“The Union of Contractors in Madhya Pradesh has written a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court complaining that payment is received only after paying 50 per cent commission in the state. The corrupt BJP government in Karnataka used to collect a 40 per cent commission. In Madhya Pradesh, BJP has gone ahead by breaking its own record of corruption. The people of Karnataka ousted the government with a 40 per cent commission, now the people of Madhya Pradesh will remove the BJP government with a 50 per cent commission from power,” Gandhi said in a tweet.
