No fresh dengue death in Bengal

Kolkata, Aug 18 (PTI) No dengue death has been reported inWest Bengal in the last 24 hours even as 237 new cases of thevector-borne disease were registered in the same period, anofficial said today. The number of dengue deaths remains at 17 while the numberof people affected by the vector-borne disease rose to 3,438since this January, West Bengal Director of Health ServicesBiswaranjan Satpathy told PTI. Most cases reported in the last 24 hours were from Hooghlydistrict’s Serampore and North 24-Parganas district, themedical officer said. The state government has started an awareness drivethrough advertisement in dailies as well as in collaborationwith the local civic bodies to combat the deadly disease. PTISCH MDMRJ
