Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India had demonstrated its capabilities by ensuring that the global energy crisis did not significantly affect its citizens, despite widespread disruptions in international fuel supplies.
Addressing the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas gathering in Ekta Nagar, Gujarat, Modi said the country had faced challenging global circumstances but managed the situation through its preparedness and ability to respond to external pressures.
“It is a testament to India’s capability that we didn’t allow the global energy crisis to hurt citizens,” he said, highlighting India’s response to the international fuel crunch.
The remarks come amid disruptions in global energy markets following the conflict in West Asia, which has affected fuel supply routes and raised concerns over crude oil, gas availability and prices.
The Strait of Hormuz, a key passage for global oil and gas shipments, has been a major focus during the crisis.
India, which depends significantly on energy imports, has faced challenges in maintaining stable supplies while limiting the impact of rising international prices on consumers.
Modi’s remarks came during the celebrations marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Earlier in the day, he paid floral tributes at the Statue of Unity and participated in the national unity celebrations in Gujarat.
