Lucknow, Sep 2, (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naiktoday wrote a letter to Chief Minister Akilesh Yadav forsending an integrated proposal to the central government forhelping the urban poor get subsidised houses under the’Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna’. In the letter, Naik asked the chief minister to instructthe state’s urban development ministry to promptly send anintegrated proposal in this regard, a Raj Bhawan release said. "Being the governor, I act as a bridge between the centraland state governments," he said, adding, "I hope that in theinterest of state’s development the chief minister will soontake a decision for sending the proposal". "During his meeting with the Urban Development ministerVenkaih Naidu in New Delhi on August 30, the matter wasdiscussed," the release said. "He (Naik) was told that under the scheme, which wasstarted on June 25 last year, the target is to provide twocrore people with houses at subsidised rates by 2022 and thatUttar Pradesh was yet to send a proposal in this regardwhereas 21 states have already sent their proposals," therelease added.
