T’gana govt plans to set up RICH: KT Rama Rao

Hyderabad, Sep 3 (PTI) Telangana government is planningto set up Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad(RICH), state Information and Technology Minister K T RamaRao said today. Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function ofthe 4th edition of ‘August Fest’, he said Telangana is nolonger a startup state, but a "scale-up" state. "In western countries the research is university-based.We need to learn from the West. Telangana government isplanning to set up Research and Innovation Circle of Hyderabad(RICH). The government is looking at commercialisation ofresearch. The capital of Telangana is home to some 30 plusbest research institutions such as CSIR, NIRD, IICT," he said. He also informed that T-Hub, a technological incubatorpromoted by the Telangana government for startups, will startits chapter in Silicon Valley, the home to many startups andglobal technology companies. Soundarya Rajinikath, daughter of film star Rajinikanth,Shobu Yarlagadd, producer of "Baahubali", Carman Chan,investor in over 25 companies such as Spotify, Meetup, andCharu Sharma, founder of Pro Kabaddi league, among others,will speak on the second day of the event tomorrow, anofficial release said. The ‘August Fest’ is organised by Eat, Sleep and Drink(ESD) Startup floated by Kiran Maverick, Aadi, Subash andothers. PTI GDK NPKISRDS
