Three held for abetting suicide of woman raped by their friend

Hyderabad, Sept 6 (PTI) Three youths were today arrestedin Mahabubnagar district of Telangana on charge of abetmentof suicide of a 22-year-old married woman who was last monthallegedly "raped" by one of their friends, police said. Three accused persons Venkatesh, Ramu and Mastan (allaged around 28) were arrested and sent to judicial custody,they said. "The victim, who was allegedly raped by one Swamy, onAugust 24 had subsequently "committed suicide" in the night bysetting herself ablaze. Swamy was arrested on August 28," asenior police officer said. During the course of investigation, three friends ofSwamy were today arrested, a police officer attached toKollapur Police Station said. Police had registered a case oncharge of rape, abetment of suicide and criminal intimidationin connection with the incident under relevant sections ofIPC. PTI VVKNSK
