The situation at the US-Mexico border intensified after a Supreme Court decision supporting the Joe Biden administration’s move to remove razor wire for migrant control. Tensions rose as Texas Governor Greg Abbott pushed for additional wire installations, resulting in a face-off between federal authorities and the Texas National Guard.
Meanwhile, a video is circulating on social media depicting a convoy of trucks on a freeway, with individuals waving American flags. It is claimed that the Americans en route to the Texas border to counter illegal immigration.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with a caption: “Wow Americans have had enough!!!!!This honestly made me emotional watching. Patriots, farmers, truckers & more, are all heading to the Southern border to assist the Texas Armed Guard against the continued Invasion of America. They have finally realised the Biden administration is actively working against the country & are deliberately destroying it from within.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team identified the extended version of the viral video on YouTube by Insider News, dated March 04, 2022, with a caption: “Inside the Trucker Convoy Heading to Washington, DC” The video matches with the viral clip, which is the edited part to focus solely on the visuals of the truckers’ protest. The Insider News video discussed about COVID-19 vaccines and footage of rally participants sharing their views on pandemic restrictions.
We also ran a keyword search and found several news articles by Business Insider and India Today published in March 2022 carrying similar visuals. These reports highlighted the organization of the “People’s Convoy” in the US capital, consisting of thousands of trucks and recreational vehicles. The convoy’s objective was to call for an end to all Covid-19 restrictions.
Hence, we can conclusively say that the 2022 video was falsely shared as a recent protest by Americans against the migrant movement at the US-Mexico border.
