Fact Check: Clip Of Monkey Rifling Through Files in Saharanpur Falsely Linked To Ayodhya Ram Mandir

Date:

Even after the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla, the Ayodhya Ram temple remains in the news. With a large number of devotees visiting from across the country, the Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust is looking into crowd management practices adopted by the TTD. Against this backdrop, a video surfaced on Internet, claiming that a monkey is checking the registration status of Ram temple in Ayodhya by going through files and documents in an office.

A Facebook user posted with a caption: “_🙏Hanuman is checking whether the name of Rama Mandir has been registered in Ayodhya 🙏🙏Jai Sriram🙏_*Rama Mohana Rao”

Here is the link to the above post.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes, the NM team traced a YouTube video, dated October 16 2023, with a caption: “Trending | Monkey Check Files At Government Office, Ignores Bananas.”

The same video had been published in India Today, dated October 14, 2023, with a caption: “A video depicting a monkey rifling through the pages of a register in a office in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, went viral on social media. Despite people offering bananas, the monkey declined to take them.”

Hence, we can conclusively state that an old post from Saharanpur has gone viral, fictitiously claiming it is from Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir.
