FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video and found it to be misleading.
Conducting a Reverse Image Search on the video keyframes, we found
a video on YouTube shorts posted on the official channel of CNN-News 18, dated September 11, 2022.
The video keyframes match exactly with the viral clip and the description makes it clear that the footage is an Enforcement Directorate raid conducted in a Kolkata-based businessman’s properties. ED recovered around ₹18 crore cash during the raid.
Another news report, published by NDTV, dated September 10, 2022, was shared with the title: Heaps Of Cash Found At Kolkata Firm In Raid, Counting Machines Busy, matches exactly with the viral video. We got to know that ED conducted raids on six different properties belonging to a Kolkata businessman who, along with his family, defrauded people through a gaming app.
One more news report, published online in The Times of India, dated September 11, 2022, said: ‘Kolkata: ₹17 crore found during ED raid on home of gaming app operator’ stated that the accused is Aamir Khan, promoter of a gaming app called E-nuggets. Khan allegedly lured users to his gaming app and then defrauded them, and the money recovered is what he had collected by cheating them.
Earlier, NewsMobile had debunked the same video when it was shared as an ED raid on a Surat-based businessman’s residence and an NIA raid on PFI in Kerala.
