FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video and found it to be shared with a misleading claim.

With the help of a Reverse Image Search, we found a video report carried on the NDTV news website on February 16, 2022. “Video: Cops Hit Muslim Women With Sticks In Ghaziabad Over Hijab Protest,” read the title of the article.

As per the report, the video was of policemen hitting women in burqas during a protest against the hijab ban in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad.

ABP News also reported the incident carrying the viral video.

After the video went viral, Ghaziabad Police issued a statement, saying the protesters attacked their team first and were holding a protest without permission.

Therefore, it can be concluded that the viral video is not from Karnataka but from Uttar Pradesh.
