FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above post, and found it to be misleading.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral picture, the NM team traced an article by an Iranian newswire, Islamic Republic News Agency, dated January 6, 2020, with a caption: “Tehran, Jan 6, IRNA – The people of Mashad welcomed as a hero the body of the late Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani.”

According to the report, General Soleimani, who had fought and annihilated the US-made Daesh terrorist group, was assassinated in Baghdad by the US targeted airstrike. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets in Mashad to bid farewell to the Iranian national hero, who had saved the Middle East from the US-made terrorist group Daesh (ISIS).
The same image was also shared in an article by Tasnim News in 2020. The same image was found on Shutterstock, with a title: “Funeral of Top Iranian General Qasem Soleimani killed in US airstrike in Baghdad, Mashhad, Iran Islamic Republic Of – 05 Jan 2020.”

The image description reads: “Iranians carrying the coffin of late Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) Lieutenant general and commander of the Quds Force Qasem Soleimani in the city of Mashhad, northeast Iran, on January 5, 2020. The Pentagon announced that Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi militia commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were killed on January 3, 2020, following a US airstrike at Baghdad’s international airport. The attack comes amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington.”
From the above information, it is clear that the image of the funeral of late Iranian General Qasem Soleimani has gone viral, falsely claiming that it is the funeral of late President Raisi.
