A video depicting a group of individuals assaulting an elderly man is widely shared on social media, claiming that Tamilians are being beaten up in Karnataka under the newly elected Congress regime.
The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “கர்நாடகாவில் காங்கிரஸ் கட்சி ஆட்சிக்கு வந்தவுடன் பழைய படி, தமிழன் அடி வாங்க துவங்கி விட்டான். தமிழின துரோகிகள் வாய் திறப்பார்களா பார்ப்போம்” [English translation: See below.]

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.
Performing a Reverse Image Search, our team identified a YouTube page carrying the same video, dated September 13, 2016, with a caption: “Cauvery Row: Elderly Lorry Driver From Tamil Nadu Forced to Speak Kannada – Must Watch”.
This very video was also circulated on certain Facebook pages in Tamil Nadu in 2016.
In August, September, and October of 2016, a contentious conflict arose between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka over the allocation of Cauvery River water. This dispute prompted intervention from the Supreme Court. Incidents of stone-pelting and assaults on vehicles registered in Tamil Nadu were documented in various regions of Karnataka during this period.
It is interesting to note that Karnataka was governed by the Congress government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in 2016. The party recently won the election in May 2023.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that an old video of a Tamil driver being attacked in Karnataka is shared as a recent incident.
