Afghanistan defeated Pakistan in a memorable win at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Against the backdrop, a picture, claiming Afghanistan cricketers waved the Indian flag after defeating Pakistan, is doing the rounds on social media.

A Facebook user posted the viral post with a caption:
कल रात अफ़ग़ानिस्तान ने पाकिस्तान को हराने के बाद अफ़ग़ानिस्तान के खिलाड़ियो ने भारत का झंडा उठा कर पूरे मेदन में चकर लगाए और भारत के लोगो का धन्यवाद किया

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, and found it to be false.

Running a Reverse Image Search of the viral image, our team traced a photo gallery in Rashid Khan’s profile on ESPN Cricinfo. One of the images matches with the viral image except for the Indian Flag in Khan’s hands. This indicates that the flag may have been edited in the picture.

Searching further, we found the same image uploaded on Getty Images, dated October 23, 2023. Here too, we could not see the Indian Flag in Rashid’s hand, confirming that the image has been photoshopped.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post is photoshopped.
