A viral video claiming to show the Chinese government destroying a mosque is doing rounds on social media. Many users are sharing the post claiming it to be true.
A Facebook user posted the viral post with the following caption: The Chinese government destroyed another mosque. The Chinese Communist Party has been focusing on mosques as part its crackdown against the Muslim Uyghurs.
And yet, not a word of criticism from Arab leaders.

NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post and found the claims to be misleading.
Running a Reverse Image Search of the video keyframes led us to a tweet, published on February 26, 23, on the official website of a Turkish media agency- Aykiri. The video matches exactly with the viral clip and the caption informs that the incident happened in Turkey when a “controlled demolition” attempt was made for the mosque’s minaret which was damaged after the earthquake. We could not find any link/relation to China or Ughyur Muslims here.
Searching further, we came across another news article published on a Turkish media website- Oksigen. Here too, we can see that the mosque was demolished in a controlled manner in order to minimize any danger. It further states that the mosque was taken down after it had been damaged during the deadly earthquake that hit the country in February 2023
Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral post, claiming China is demolishing mosques belonging to Ughyur Muslims, is false.
