Fact Check: Video Related To BJP Workers’ Protest In Patna Falsely Linked To Recent Nuh Violence

Amidst the ongoing communal violence in Haryana, which reportedly originated in the Nuh district, social media is flooded with numerous photos and videos depicting arson, vandalism, and violence. One of the videos showing people being lathi-charged by the police claims that rioters in Mewat were thrashed by policemen.

A Facebook user shared this video and wrote: लो पुलिस वालों ने बढ़िया प्रसाद दें दिया मेवात में दंगा कराने वालों को.” [English translation: See, the policemen are giving delicious prasad to those who created riots in Mewat.]

According to the report, on July 13, 2023, the BJP called Vidhan Sabha March against the Nitish government. The BJP workers were protesting against corruption, employment, and teachers appointment scam.

After the Speaker removed two BJP MLAs from the Assembly, the opposition MLAs protested at Gandhi Maidan, demanding Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav’s resignation in the land for job scam. Later, police lathi-charged the BJP leaders at the Dak Bungalow Square in Patna.

Thus, we can  conclusively say that the viral video is related to BJP workers’ protest in Patna, and has nothing to do with the recent Mewat violence.
