Conducting a keyword search on YouTube, our NM team traced a video, titled “4K HDR Night Walk in Tokyo Shibuya” on the verified channel Virtual Japan, and uploaded on October 19, 2020, offering a picturesque night walk through Tokyo’s Shibuya district. Interestingly, the longer version of the video showcases people wearing masks, hinting at the possibility of it being recorded during the pandemic. Upon closer examination, we identified similar visuals around the 21:20 timestamp that match with the viral video.
While comparing the viral video to the one uploaded on YouTube, it became quite clear that the viral video was edited to include anti-Zelenskyy texts on the digital billboard.
Conducting a search on Google Maps with the street view option, and using “Bic Camera” as a reference, the location of the recorded video in Tokyo was confirmed.
Our team also could not find any credible media report about installation of anti-Zelenskyy digital billboards in Japan. Thus, we can conclusively say that the viral video is edited.
