NM VERIFIED
NewsMobile verified the claim and found that the image is AI-generated.
The NM team initiated its verification by examining the viral images and conducting a reverse image search to trace their origin. During the investigation, we came across an Instagram post by an artist operating under the handle @oviyan_theartist, which featured the same set of images.

The artist clarified in the post that the purported ₹1,000 note was an original artistic creation and not an officially issued currency note. The images were shared as an artistic interpretation rather than an actual representation of Indian currency. This provided an important clue about the origin and authenticity of the viral visuals.
Further, we checked the official social media handles and website of the RBI for any announcement regarding the introduction of a new ₹1,000 denomination. However, no such notification or press release was found. The RBI’s official ‘Know Your Banknotes’ portal also did not feature the purported design.
We also found a clarification issued by the government’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check on X. It categorically dismissed the viral claim, stating that the RBI had not announce issuing a new ₹1,000 currency note.
