A glimpse of Cabinet in the making

New Delhi: In the Narendra Modi Cabinet to be sworn in today, Rajnath Singh is almost certain to get the Home Ministery while J P Nadda is set to become the new party president. Arun Jaitley will be the new Finance Minister while Arun Shourie is poised for the Deputy Chairmanship of the Planning Commission or to be a Special Advisor at PMO.

Sushma Swaraj may head External Affairs, while Murli Manohar Joshi and LK Advani may not get Cabinet posts. Venkaiah Naidu, Ananth Kumar and Menaka Gandhi are more likely to get Cabinet berths. Sumithra Mahajan remains in contention along with Karia Munda for the Lok Sabha Speaker’s post.

Kalraj Mishra is likely to be included in the Cabinet as the HRD Minister while Nitin Gadkari is poised to take over a combination of important infrastructure ministries. Ravi Shankar Prasad is likely to be next Information and Broadcasting Minister and Nripendra Mishra will take over as the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, say sources.

TDP Leader Ashok Gajapathy Raju and Shiv Sena leader Anant Geete are also likely to be given Cabinet berths.
