BJPs Varanasi office raided

Date:

Varanasi: BJP’s local office was raided by a joint team of Election Commission officials and the police on Sunday during which material related to campaigning was reportedly seized. The raid comes days after a showdown between the party and the Commission over denial of permission for BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi’s rally in the city.

Sources say the office was raided following a tip-off from a rival political party.

The last day of campaigning ended on Saturday. Voting in the last phase of the polls will take place on Monday.
