Bomb blast in Patna NIA rushed

Date:

Patna: Security agencies on Monday went into a tizzy after a low intensity blast shook a residential building in Patna’s Bahadurpur area. However, no casualties were reported from the site.

The blast occurred inside a flat in a residential building of Bihar’s capital. The police later recovered two high-intensity live bombs from the building which were later defused by the bomb squad.

Police officials were shocked when they discovered that bombs were equipped with the same timer that was used in the bombs that went off in 2013 at Narendra Modi’s rally at Gandhi Maidan ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

“There was a low intensity blast. Two live bombs were also found which were defused later. No casualties or injuries have been reported as yet,” Senior Superintendent of Police Jitendra Rana told reporters.

The explosion caused panic among the residents of the area, the SSP added.

A senior police official requesting anonymity claimed that the patterns of making bombs were also similar to those which were used during the 2013 and 2012 blasts in Bihar.

While no arrests have been made yet, police have sealed the building and a two-wheeler parked at the building has also been seized.

As per locals, three people lived in the flat, of which one hails from Nalanda district. They are absconding even as several police teams are at work to trace them.

According to credible sources police have also got important information related to the blast.

Reports further claimed that the building was being used as a bomb making factory.

NIA spokesperson Ramashastri  told NewsMobile, “Whenever there is any IED recovery, a small team of NIA visits the site for explosives expert examination.”

Meanwhile, a National Investigation Agency (NIA) team is en route to Patna to assist in the probe.
