CBI files another FRI in coal scam case

New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered its 36th first information report (FIR) in the coal blocks allocation case, it announced on Sunday.

The FIR was registered for the allocation of Gare Palma IV/1 coal block to Jindal Strips Ltd and Jindal Steel and Power Ltd and unknown public servants.

This comes a year after a case was registered against Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) and its Chairman Naveen Jindal in the coal block allocation scam.

In June last year, the agency had carried out raids and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) Chairman Naveen Jindal and Dasari Narayana Rao, former minister of state for coal, for cheating, criminal conspiracy and misconduct in securing the Amarkonda Murgadangal coal block in Jharkhand in 2008.

Five private companies were also named in the FIR.
