New Delhi:Â The Narendra Modi government on Monday filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court on 218 coal blocks declared as illegal and left it to the court to decide on the issue. The apex court deemed the allocation of 218 coal blocks since 1993 as illegal.
The government has proposed that the Supreme Court should consider the retention of 46 coal blocks, 40 of which are already producing coal while six are ready for production.
The government has also filed the details of the CBI FIRs against the six coal blocks under production. The government has said that it will stand by any decision that the apex court takes.
