New Delhi: After being trolled left, right and centre on the social networking sites for embracing Lalu on the day of Nitish’s swearing in ceremony, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has come up with a bizarre defence.
Accusing the RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for the ‘infamous’ embrace, Kejriwal said that it was Lalu who “pulled and hugged” him on the stage. He further said that the embrace is not indicative of any sort of “alliance” with the RJD Chief.
Kejriwal said that AAP worked “against BJP” during the Bihar assembly polls and supported the chief ministerial candidature of Nitish Kumar as he is a “good person” and has done “good work”.
“I go to Rashtrapati Bhawan. All party leaders come there. They meet us. In Nitish Kumar’s swearing in Lalu Yadav was on the stage. He shook hand and pulled me and hugged me and held my hand and raised it. It was projected and questions were asked. We have not formed an alliance. We are against his record of corruption and we’ll always oppose it,” Kejriwal added.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed Kejriwal for sharing the photo-op moment with Lalu and launched a poster war on Monday against Arvind Kejriwal.
The Delhi BJP unit placed posters at various places across the national capital. The hoardings read: “Anna kal ki baat hai, ab Lalu ke saath hai” (Anna is the past, Lalu is the present) with the picture of Kejriwal hugging Lalu (who was barred from contesting elections followed by the conviction in fodder scam case) at the oath-taking ceremony of the new Bihar cabinet.
