Kathmandu: There will be no “structured dialogue” between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif during the SAARC summit, even though Pakistan has said Sharif was keen to meet Modi.
Earlier, Pakistan had put the ball in New Delhi’s court for resuming a dialogue between the two prime ministers at SAARC summit in Kathmandu.
“Pakistan is ready to hold talks but it is up to India to re-start the negotiations which were called off by it unilaterally. The ball is now in India’s court for talks between both the countries,” Sharif said referring to New Delhi cancelling the foreign secretary level talks after Pakistan High Commissioner to India Abdul Basit met Kashmiri separatist leaders on the eve of the dialogue.
When asked about the possibility of talks between the two countries, Sharif said the question should be put to his Indian counterpart.
