N’Gog lifts Reims in Ligue 1

Date:

David N’Gog lifted Reims into third place in Ligue 1 on Friday when the former Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain striker scored the only goal in a 1-0 win over Lille.

N’Gog had missed a first-half penalty but made no mistake heading in after 56 minutes from a Prince Oniangue cross to keep Olivier Guegan’s side unbeaten in five matches.

The side from the Champagne region are provisionally third with 15 points from eight matches, two points adrift of leaders PSG who travel to Nantes on Saturday, and a point off Saint-Etienne, who host Nice on Sunday.

For Lille it was just their second defeat of the season since losing their opening match to champions PSG.

Herve Renard’s side have seven points from seven games and are sitting 13th.
