15 hours in politics tougher than 15 years in cricket: Gautam Gambhir

Date:

Looks like politics is a tough game after all! Former cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who moved to politics sometime back and is all set to contest from the North East Delhi seat, has not been having it easy as far as remarks from his rivals are concerned.
Whether it was his voter ID or pamphlets, opposition hasn’t left any moment to take a dig at him.

In an election meeting recently, the BJP candidate complained that he had faced more allegations in his first 15 hours in politics than 15 years of playing cricket.

“Sometimes, they (AAP) talk of cancelling my nomination, sometimes that I have 2 voter IDs, sometimes an FIR and now, Kejriwal says that I will be abroad 240 days in a year,” the 37-year-old said, in response to CM Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal to people to elect a representative who has worked for them rather than an ex-cricketer who may have international assignments.

Gautam Gambhir is pitted against Congress’s Arvinder Singh Lovely and AAP’s Atishi. Earlier, AAP’s candidate, Atishi had challenged him to a public debate on their vision for the constituency.
He also said, “I have challenged Kejriwal from the dais… Give me half the time (that you have spent in politics) and then, you decide the place and time.”
