New Delhi: Mark your calendars for the highly anticipated 16th edition of the Asia Cup, set to kick off on August 30. Pakistan and Sri Lanka join forces as co-hosts for this thrilling tournament. The schedule for the upcoming Asia Cup was announced by Jay Shah, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president on Wednesday.
Taking to twitter Shah stated, “I am happy to announce the schedule for the highly anticipated Men’s ODI #AsiaCup2023, a symbol of unity and togetherness binding diverse nations together! Six teams, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal, are all geared up to compete for glory. The arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, are all set to face off on September 2nd in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
The teams have been divided into two groups: Group A comprises Pakistan, Nepal, and India, while Group B features Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh. The tournament will take place from August 30 to September 17.
In anticipation of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup hosted in India, the tournament will follow a 50-over format. This decision allows players to adapt and prepare for the pinnacle event of international cricket.
