Kolkata: In a shocking discovery, decomposed bodies of 14 newborns were found wrapped in plastic near south Kolkata on Sunday during a cleaning programme.

‘Some abortion racket operating nearby could be behind it,” news agency PTI quoted a senior police officer as saying.
‘Condition of skeletons can be determined only after postmortem. We’ll investigate. We’re also checking the CCTV footage in the area. A complete search will be done tomorrow morning,’ ANI quoted Nilanjan Biswas, DC (Behala).

The empty plot, covered with bushes, was recently sold to a promoter for development and construction. While clearing the bushes on Sunday afternoon the bodies were discovered.
