EC Releases Voter Turnout Data For First Five Phases; Here’s How Many People Voted

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday released the absolute number of voters who participated in the first five phases of the ongoing 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

  • A total of 507 million votes have been cast in the first five phases.

Phase-Wise Breakdown

  • Phase 1: 110 million (110,052,103) votes
  • Phase 2: 105 million (105,830,572) votes
  • Phase 3: 113 million (113,234,676) votes
  • Phase 4: 122 million (122,469,319) votes
  • Phase 5: 55.7 million (55,710,618) votes

  • In February, the ECI reported that 96.88 crore (968.8 million) voters were registered for the 2024 General Elections.
  • In a statement, the ECI emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity and transparency of the electoral process, noting the Supreme Court’s support for the current data release procedures. The poll panel highlighted its rigorous, transparent, and participative process for collecting and storing votes.
  • The Supreme Court recently adjourned petitions seeking the release of booth-wise voter turnout and Form 17C copies within 48 hours of polling, citing the ongoing election process.
  • The ECI refuted allegations of delay in releasing voter turnout data, stating that the Voter Turnout App provides estimated voter turnout every two hours until 5:30 PM. After polling ends, data is continuously updated, with close of poll data available by midnight.
  • The ECI announced plans to expand the turnout data format to include the absolute number of voters in each parliamentary constituency.
