Mangalore Autorickshaw Blast: Case To Be Handed Over To NIA

Mangalore: Karnataka ADGP, Alok Kumar on Monday said that the accused Sharik (passenger) in the Mangaluru auto-rickshaw explosion case, has been earlier involved in cases under UAPA and was on the run.

While the case is likely to be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), as per newswire ANI.

The top cop further said that the accused had links with a terrorist organisation which is having a global presence.

Notably, in a major breakthrough in the Mangaluru autorickshaw blast case on Sunday, ADGP, Alok Kumar visited the spot and said that the bomb was implanted with an aim to disrupt harmony in the area.

The Police reported that the passenger in the auto-rickshaw was carrying a pressure cooker, and found that there was an improvised explosive device (IED) inside the cooker which exploded.

The passenger was also carrying an Aadhaar card which did not belong to him, the police said.

the DGP Karnataka on Sunday said that the fire that broke out in an auto rickshaw in the Kankanadi police station area is “not accidental” but an “act of terror.”
