New Delhi: With the Indian Test squad already starting their practice schedule ahead of the final test match against England at Edgbaston, Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin could not board a flight to England to join the squad after being tested positive for COVID.
The rest of the squad is already in England and are scheduled to face the Leicestershire team in a practice match on June 24th. Ashwin is likely to miss the practice match having been required to meet all the necessary COVID-related requirements.
While the players gear up for the much-needed practice match, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid, Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, and Shreyas Iyer have left for England from Bengaluru after participating in the India-South Africa Home T20 series which ended with a 2-2 draw.
Leading up to the fifth test match, India is leading the series by 2-1. India will also clash with England in three T20s and 3 ODIs post the Test series finals.
