US Treasury Removes India From Currency Monitoring List

Date:

Washington: The US Department of Treasury on Friday removed India from the Currency Monitoring List.

According to a report released by the US Department of Treasury, India along with Vietnam, Italy, Mexico, and Thailand were removed from the monitoring list.

The report added that “the Monitoring List comprises China, Japan, Korea, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.”

Talking about India and other countries that were excluded from the list, the report claimed that “having met only one out of three criteria for two consecutive Reports.”

The report further said that “China’s failure to publish foreign exchange intervention and broader lack of transparency around key features of its exchange rate mechanism make it an outlier among major economies and warrants Treasury’s close monitoring.”
