Mohammed Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan files a domestic violence case against him

Date:

Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami’s wife Hasin Jahan has filed a domestic violence case against him and others in the Alipore court in Kolkata on Tuesday.

Hasin had earlier filed a police complaint against her husband Shami and four others, pressing charges of domestic violence under Section 498A along with other charges.

The court case has been filed under The Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. It’s a plea for interim maintenance of Hasin Jahan and her daughter.

Jahan had earlier claimed that she tried to withdraw money from an account using a cheque but Shami had allegedly issued instructions for a stop payment.

With his off-field troubles mounting, it seemed at one stage that Shami will not play in the on-going Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018. Shami, however, was part of the Delhi Daredevils (DD) team against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) match on Sunday. DD, however, lost to KXIP by six wickets in Mohali.

Shami’s participation was cleared the moment the BCCI offered him a fresh central contract, which it had withheld following his wife’s police complaint. The BCCI had decided to withhold Shami’s contract after his wife Jahan made a series of allegations, including adultery and domestic violence, and lodged a police complaint against him. Shami has denied all the allegations.
