Amazon, till now has been claiming that Alexa only records sounds and instructions when the device is on.
However, according to some recent report by Danielle from Portland, a private conversation between her and her husband got recorded and landed up in the inbox of her husband’s colleague.
Danielle further figured out that this incident happened after the call from her husband’s colleague who said, “unplug your Alexa devices right now, you’re being hacked.”
This chain of events was reported to Amazon and Danielle questioned the company about their claim of Alexa responding and reacting to conversations only when the device is on.
However, the answer to the question about Alexa recording conversations when the device is off is no. It only reacts to conversations when a wake word is spoken and these words can also be deleted from your history.
