New Delhi: The Centre has scrapped the special additional excise duty (SAED) on petrol exports while increasing the levy on diesel to Rs 11.5 per litre and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) to Rs 11 per litre, according to notifications issued by the Ministry of Finance. The revised rates came into effect on October 31.
Under the new structure, the petrol export duty has been reduced to zero from Rs 2.5 per litre. Meanwhile, the levy on high-speed diesel exports has increased from Rs 8.5 to Rs 11.5 per litre, while the duty on ATF has risen from Rs 10.5 to Rs 11 per litre.
The Centre introduced export levies on petrol, diesel and ATF on March 27, 2026, amid the escalating West Asia crisis and concerns over international energy supplies.
The move aimed to discourage excessive exports and maintain adequate domestic availability of petroleum products.
The government reviews petroleum export duties every 15 days based on average international prices of crude oil, petrol, diesel and ATF.
The previous revision, effective October 16, had fixed the duties at Rs 2.5 per litre for petrol, Rs 8.5 for diesel and Rs 10.5 for ATF.
The latest changes remove the petrol export levy while increasing duties on diesel and aviation fuel. The notifications were issued by the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance.
