Changing his ‘pitch’; Cricketer Gautam Gambhir may contest elections

Date:

Indian batsman, Gautam Gambhir is all set to follow fellow cricketers, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Mohammad Kaif, Praveen Kumar, Vinod Kambli and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and join politics.

If reports are to be believed, he is all set to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and contest Lok Sabha elections from Delhi. He is known for his strong nationalistic views that he often shares on social media.

The 36-year old last represented the country in Test cricket in 2016 against England. He was instrumental in helping India win the T20I World Cup 2007 and World Cup 2011. In a glittering career, he has scored 4,154 in 58 Tests and 5,238 runs in 147 ODIs.

Gambhir hasn’t officially retired from cricket yet, but there are great chances that he might switch careers soon.

Currently, Arvind Kejriwal led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)  is ruling in the state.
