Delhi Air Quality Remains Severe, AQI Touches 428

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi continued to grapple with poor air quality on Monday, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) ranging between 385 and 428, placing readings in the ‘very poor’ to ‘severe’ categories.

Several monitoring stations across the capital recorded elevated pollution levels, according to data reported by ANI.

The AQI at Akshardham Temple and ITO stood at 349 each, while India Gate and Janpath recorded 335.

Rohini registered 396, Alipur 375, Vivek Vihar 370 and Narela 363. Chandni Chowk recorded 358 and Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium 343.

Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said enforcement teams were checking vehicles, verifying Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) and inspecting construction sites to control pollution.

According to Sirsa, 14,930 vehicles were checked on November 1, with 566 challans issued for PUCC violations. Teams also inspected 300 construction sites to ensure compliance with dust-control norms.

Sirsa urged motorists to keep their pollution certificates valid and follow vehicle-entry restrictions and construction-related guidelines.
Authorities said enforcement measures were being strengthened under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) to address the worsening air quality.
