FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the viral post, we found it to be misleading.

We found an article by The Times of India dated January 7, 2014. As per the article, this service was launched only in Maharashtra. The article states that under this service, the ‘people can dial 104 to connect the call centre with their requirements and the information will be forwarded to the respective district blood banks’.

We found the helpline on the official website Government of Maharashtra Public Health Department.

We also found out that different states use ‘104’ as a helpline number for different purposes. Not just that, but along with ‘blood on call’, the number is also being used under other health-related issues in Maharastra.

However, there were no reports that the ‘blood on-call’ service is implemented in pan India.

The above information proves that the viral message is misleading.
